AK2006 -- Delta Junction, Alaska

Delta Junction, about 100 miles SE of Fairbanks, is the northern terminus of the Alcan Highway and a throughpoint for the Alaska Pipeline. Most of the town was closed this day, at least the visitor centers i was looking for, but these markers were out in the open. . .

At the junction of the Richardson and Alcan Highways, this marker has been placed to note the history of the road and it's impact. . .

. . .this is an oversized milemarker for the Alcan/Alaska Highway. There's another one in Fairbanks, and i assume theres probably others all the way to the other end of the road in Dawson Creek, Canada. . .

. . .a sample of the pipe used in the Alaska Pipeline. It's only 48 inches wide, i was a little surprised how small it was. . .

. . . this is a 'Pig' used to clean and monitor the Alaska Pipeline.
