Austin2012 -- Texas Peace Officers Memorial

Located on the northeast side of the Texas Capitol, the Texas Peace Officers' Memorial names every officer who died in the line of duty. It was dedicated in 1999 and probably the most solemn of the many monuments on the grounds.

Each section lists each Officer's name and date of death along a granite wall partially encircling the east side of the monument

I liked how the Momument created its own reflection within the polished granite star in these shots

The Texas Star in the middle is encircled by the words "Dedication", "Honor", "Service", and "Bravery"

I'm not clear what the obelisk in the middle of the monument is intended to represent, but it was photogenic against the clouds. A second identical obelisk has been eclipsed by the one in the shot
