ROAD2002 (NC) -- Monuments at Cape Hatteras

Historical markers are all over the island. These are just a few of the ones i came across.

These are the lighthouse's original foundation stones. They remain at the original location of the lighthouse as a marker, and are engraved with the names of the previous keepers of the light. . .

. . . this NPS marker described the lighthouse keeper's life at the light. . .

. . .The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is a National Historic Landmark. . .

. . .Cape Hatteras Island was a strategic area during the Civil War. These markers memorialize the many incidents during and after the war as both sides wanted control over the Fort, the light and the island.
