FL2004 -- Around Kennedy Space Center

While at KSC, we took the several-nickle tour of the Shuttle Launch Pads and landing strip.

A Bald Eagle perched up on a telephone pole. . .




. . .the contraption that takes the Shuttle out to the launch pad. . .

. . .the Vehicle Assembly Building where launch vehicles are put together before launch. . .

. . .the Space Shuttle Launch Pads, which were the same ones used for the Apollo Missions. . .

. . .this is the bus that took us around KSC. . .




. . .this is the air traffic control tower for the KSC landing strip. . .






. . .the KSC runway, specially designed to be 2 miles long, extremely flat -- and made of materials that would be safer for shuttle landings.
