AZ2004 -- Cameron Bridge

Heading North up US-89, this bridge spans the Little Colorado River (before it hitting the big one in the Grand Canyon.) To me, it seems somewhat out of place as it's all flat desert until you come up on it. Errected in 1911, it was the first bridge to span the gorge. Though it's closed to traffic, it's still in use for a support of a pipeline.

View looking to the North East -- notice the pipeline that comes out of the ground and uses the upper supports of the bridge to cross the gorge. . .

. . .This marker speaks of Cameron, Arizona and the history of the Cameron Trading Post built soon after the bridge. . .

. . .Official Bridge Construction marker.
