ROAD2002 (MD) -- Monocacy National Battlefield Monument

Monocacy was another one of those stops that was found by accident. The 1864 civil war battle is considered "The Battle That Saved Washington D.C." and was the of the last the Confederates would carry out in the Union territory. I didnt really have time to explore that day, though these are a sampling of the 1500 acres of historical scenery in the area.

This is the visitor center at the old Gambrill Mill, which had been restored on the outside. There was a somewhat rundown museum inside. . .

I came across the bay bridge by chance on the roadtrip. Wish I had more time to just take it in.

This was the fishing dock extending off of one of the manmade islands. . .
